TOPEKA, KAN. – Seth Evans, 25, couldn’t believe his luck when he purchased a $2 Bonus Crossword ticket for the very first time. The El Dorado resident revealed all ten words, winning a $20,000 top prize on the game.
“When I buy lottery tickets, I usually buy $1 tickets,” said Evans. “My girlfriend Desiree always buys the $2 Bonus Crossword and Bingo tickets, so when we stopped at the convenience store she bought me a Crossword ticket to try.”
While sitting in the parking lot of the convenience store, Evans scratched his ticket.
“I couldn’t believe it when I matched ten words,” said Evans. “We went back into the store and asked them to check my ticket. The store clerk scanned the ticket twice to make sure there wasn’t a mistake. We were so surprised to win $20,000.”
Evans, who works at Wal-Mart, plans to pay bills with his prize money.
The winning ticket was purchased at Casey’s General Store, located at 1411 N. Ohio St. in Augusta.
